Channel Broadcasts

Broadcasts allow dispatchers to communicate with the entire channel all at once. There are two types of broadcasts supported:

  • Voice: talk to all users currently connected to the channel
  • Alert: send text alert to all users of the channel, including those who are not currently connected to it. Users who are not connected to the channel will receive push notification with the alert text.

Voice Broadcast

Steps to send a voice broadcast to a channel:

  • Make sure your Dispatch Hub app is running version 1.4.0 or newer.
  • Click the Channels tab
  • Use the microphone button next to the channel name to send a voice broadcast

While receiving the voice broadcast, your channel will see a banner indicating “Channel-wide broadcast”. These banners will only show for mobile users on recent versions of Zello. (see screenshot below)  However, the broadcast function will still work for mobile users on older versions.
